Looking across the Charles River towards Boston.
Outside a big fancy MIT building.
Most of the conference was in this Dr. Seuss looking building called the Stata Center.
Opening remarks at iGEM.
Eating lunch and prepping for the presentation. A NY Times reporter came and talked to some of the team members.
Cobalt modeling the award we won.
This weekend I'm going to Boston with the Stanford iGEM team! iGEM stands for International Genetically Engineered Machine and its a "research competition" for undergraduates. The undergrads work on a project all summer and then meet up at MIT to present their work. There are 112 teams from all over the world so I expect it will be very exciting. Since I'm a graduate mentor, I just help the Stanford team rehearse on Friday and then hang out for the rest of the time. It's pretty much a free trip to Boston... I get so lucky sometimes!

I am proud of my first quilt, but not too happy with how it turned out exactly (it looks a little grandma to me).But it makes me happy to see Cobalt snuggled up in it!
